Appeals and Post-Conviction Relief

In conjunction with our orientation toward litigation, we have developed a substantial appellate and post-conviction practice. Of course appeals are often a continuation of litigation already conducted on behalf of our clients; but most of our appellate clients first come to us for assistance on an appeal from an undesired result in a case where they had other counsel. We will appear in all state and federal appellate courts up to and including the United States Supreme Court.

We have also handled numerous cases involving other avenues of post-conviction relief, such as habeas corpus (both state and federal), coram nobis, and motions under New York Criminal Procedure Law Art. 440.

Because of the difficulty of obtaining relief after a conviction has already occurred, we are most selective about the cases we will take in the areas of appeals and post-conviction motions.
